Republican John Harkins unseated incumbent Stratford Mayor Jim Miron Tuesday.
Despite Miron's last-minute campaigning, Harkins still came out on top with 54 percent of the votes.
Harkins is no stranger to Connecticut politics. He is currently serving his seventh term as a state representative. During his campaign, he said his main goals are to keep property taxes in check and examine the town's hiring process.
