An indoor-outdoor cat in Katonah died on Wednesday after testing positive for rabies, the Westchester Department of Health says.

Officials say it was a white tabby cat.

Health officials urge anyone who may have had contact with the animal to call the Department of Health at 914-813-5000.

Anyone bitten or exposed may need to receive post-rabies exposure treatment.

Health officials say once symptoms appear in humans or animals, the disease can be fatal.
