A hearing will take place tonight to discuss the future of the Bridgeport Board of Education.
Parents gathered outside City Hall yesterday to hold a rally in support of the locally elected board.
They support a recent State Supreme Court decision ruling that the state's takeover of city schools was illegal.
Meanwhile, state lawmakers have pulled the plug on plans to try and override the Supreme Court's decision.
While many parents are against Mayor Bill Finch's plan to keep the state board in place, he continues to support the move. "Bridgeport children deserve better and the new school board is critically important to our children."
Tonight's hearing will take place at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
