WEATHER TO WATCH: Hot and steamy in NYC; strong storms possible this evening

NEW: Scattered thunderstorms arrive tonight with periods of heavy rain, thunder and lightning. These storms could pose the threat of localized flash flooding.
NEXT: Cold front stays nearby tomorrow with the threat for more wet weather by Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning. Relief from the heat settles in Thursday afternoon into the weekend with temps in the low-80s.
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Darryl Green says a heat advisory will remain in effect for New York City through tonight as the heat and humidity continue with potential thunderstorms later tonight.
