Heavy rain floods streets in Bridgeport, strands motorists in Westport and Fairfield
A heavy dose of rain Tuesday morning caused street flooding in Fairfield County.
Water rose in Bridgeport on Hancock and Maplewood avenues. Panaro Perrio, who lives in the neighborhood, says his sister's car became stuck in the water and a tree branch fell on his car.
The rainwater also left a motorist stranded in Fairfield at the Round Hill Road underpass, which officials say is prone to flooding.
In Westport, another car stalled following flooding along Route 1 near the Sherwood Island Connector.
By 8 a.m. however, all the water had receded, and it was business as usual as kids walked to school.
