Hundreds of birds, snakes, turtles and other reptiles were found in horrid conditions in a home in Weston.
The animals were discovered Thursday while officers were looking into a foul smell reported in the area of Newtown Turnpike.
Police and animal control officers say the animals were in deplorable, cramped conditions and many of them were dead.
Several state agencies were called to the scene. News 12 is told a rescue group took in 40 exotic snakes and 14 exotic birds Thursday night. Another organization arrived Friday to try and help the rest of the birds.
The owner of the property is said to be cooperating with the investigation. There was no word on whether charges would be filed.
