Hwang beats Blanchard in race for Connecticut's 28th Senate District

Hwang has been in the general assembly for 16 years. Blanchard is the chief of staff for state Comptroller Sean Scanlon.

Republican incumbent state Sen. Tony Hwang has beaten his challenger Democrat Rob Blanchard in District 28.
Hwang told News 12 that Blanchard called him to concede.
Hwang has been in the general assembly for 16 years. Blanchard is the chief of staff for state Comptroller Sean Scanlon.
Throughout the race, Blanchard challenged Hwang on gun safety, abortion and tax cuts. Hwang accused Blanchard of spreading misinformation.
Hwang addressed his supporters at Local Kitchen & Beer Bar around 11 p.m.
Reflecting on his campaign, Hwang said people won over politics and that public service matters.
