Inmate dies at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution; investigation ongoing

The Connecticut Department of Correction said the inmate collapsed falling backwards, and hit his head on the pavement while playing basketball on an outside court on Saturday.

Officials are investigating the death of a male inmate at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield.
The Connecticut Department of Correction said the inmate collapsed falling backwards, and hit his head on the pavement while playing basketball on an outside court on Saturday.
They say staff provided lifesaving measures, and an ambulance was called. He was pronounced dead at the hospital around 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The death is being investigated by the Department of Correction’s Security Division and state police.
