An inspector for the Fairfield State's Attorney's Office has been charged in connection to a crash involving a bicyclist in July.
State officials say James Lawton, 61, failed to make a complete stop at a red light before attempting a right turn on Main Street. That's when they say he hit a 17-year-old bicyclist.
Lawton helped the victim pick up his bike and then left the scene.
He is charged with evading responsibility and failure to obey traffic control signal and is due in court on Aug. 29.
