A local restaurant is set to make Thanksgiving a little better for people in need by serving an expected 300 free meals to the community.
Jerkyz Restaurant and Rum bar has been in Stamford for almost a year.
Owner Joab Taylor says he appreciated all that Stamford has done for him so far, so he wanted to do something to give back to the community.
He feels that around this time of the year, it is important to do this kind of a gesture.
Taylor will serve up 300 meals to make sure that anyone who wants a warm meal this Thanksgiving can have one, regardless of their ability to pay.
Jerkyz surely prepared a feast for those in need of a hot meal. They can expect a three-course meal, including vegetables, soup, a choice of grilled chicken or shrimp with mac and cheese, potato salad, rolls, cake, and a bottle of juice.
"It's a real problem now, especially people not being able to afford food or take care of themselves...having to choose if they want to eat a full meal or take care of their kids. So we just want to be able to give them something, " says Taylor.
The restaurant is closed Thanksgiving, but the food will be available for pick up from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
