Home surveillance video shows a Stratford woman's dog being stolen right from her front yard Saturday.
Vicki Moreno says she is heartbroken by the theft of her 1-year-old Cavapoo, which she says surveillance video clearly shows being stolen from her property on McKinley Avenue in Stratford.
Moreno says she's grateful to neighbors whose cameras caught the theft on camera.
Both her mother and grandmother say the expensive breed cost about $5,000, which could create a motive for the theft.
Moreno says the beloved pet, whose name is Simba, is like a member of her family, and her only thought is to get him home as quickly as possible since she says he's on medication for anxiety and gets nervous around strangers.
"People just don't understand how their actions can affect so many people...Not only did you take my dog but you hurt me and you hurt my grandchildren. Some people may think it's just a dog, but no, that's our family," said Moreno.
She says if Simba is returned safety, she will tell police she does not want to press charges and no questions will be asked.
"None. That's between you and your God. Just bring him home," Moreno said.
Moreno is asking people to share her story on social media pleading for the dog's safe return.
