Gov. Ned Lamont visited Norwalk on Monday to discuss the state's investments in the city's schools and municipal services. Lamont said more than $3 million from the state budget will help strengthen essential services in the city.
"We provided additional funding just for our schools. Make sure our teachers are well compensated. We have the best teachers in the country. That's why we have the best schools in the country," Lamont said.
Lamont also criticized Republican challenger Ryan Fazio, saying, "Ryan Fazio, my opponent, is silent on everything happening in Washington, D.C. He does not support what we tried to do here for everything from free breakfast to improving our schools."
Fazio pushed back on those claims.
"I proposed an alternative budget this year on the floor of the Senate with a $200 million increase in education funding and with funding for low- and moderate-income students' meals, so anything that the governor says in his advertisement against me is just totally misleading of voters," Fazio said.
