A large scale COVID-19 vaccination center opened in Milford Thursday.
The clinic opened at the Parsons Government Center at 70 West River St.
The site is being run by Yale New Haven Health and is one of the largest clinics operating in Connecticut.
Milford is now home to two of the states largest COVID-19-related service centers with a testing center at the old Sears building next to the Connecticut Post Mall, and now the vaccination site at the government center.
Officials say they plan to vaccinate 1,700 people a week and are open Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Bridgeport Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Victor Morris says there are four professionals on site who are able to administer the vaccines daily.
Officials say appointments are required to get vaccinated.
Those interested in making an appointment can do so on the Yale New Haven Health website.
Those eligible to get vaccinated are health care workers, long-term care facility residents, and medical first responders in Phase 1A and only seniors 75 and older under Phase 1B.
Yale New Haven Health cautions the clinics are filling up fast, so appointments might be staggered a couple of weeks.
