Lawmakers push for lactation consultants during Black Maternal Health Week

Lawmakers said Black women are up to seven times more likely to die giving birth in Connecticut.

Lawmakers made a call to action at the state Capitol on Wednesday to push for a new bill to expand access to lactation consultants.
In 2023, lawmakers created a new certification for "doulas," pregnancy guides who can advocate for patients.
They also approved free-standing "birthing centers."
