Local lawmakers spent their day touring a Norwalk senior housing facility that will make it possible for residents to transition from an apartment to living in a nursing home.
Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and state Sen. Bob Duff (D-Conn.) were all on hand to see the new facility.
The new "accessible living" unit at the Kingsway Senior Housing Complex makes it possible for residents to not move from the building when they need assistance with everyday activities.
The housing was created with funds from a federal Housing and Urban Development grant that was awarded last month.
The unit was created by converting 28 apartments in the building.
