A local soccer team that has been setting goals for future women leaders has scored some much-needed funding.
After seeing News 12 Connecticut's story about the Bridgeport United Football Club girls soccer team losing its funding, Westport Auction and Curran Volkswagen are donating to the team.
"It just shows what the community can do and next thing you know we get this money and we had a great season this past year with over 40 girls in Bridgeport," said Bridgeport United Football Club Coach Dan Starbuck Pelletier.
"Dan's story is amazing helping out all these girls from Bridgeport. Giving them an opportunity to play sports that they love. Find out what they're great at, build their confidence," said Kate Worrell from Westport Auction.
The $14,000 donated will fund the team for the next year.
