A person has died following an overnight house fire in Trumbull.
Firefighters from multiple departments in Trumbull and Monroe responded to a fire on Hitching Post Lane around 3:15 a.m.
Crews found heavy fire throughout the home, which was structurally compromised. The second floor of the home also collapsed.
Firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside until conditions improved for them to go inside and search the residence.
They say one resident died. It's not clear if that person was the only one in the home when the fire started.
The fire was declared under control at 5:51 a.m.
The Trumbull Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause.
