There’s a saying "you are what you eat" and a local dog food company says that's also true when it comes to our dogs. For this week’s Made in Connecticut, News 12 got a behind-the-scenes look at Get Joy, a dog food company in South Norwalk.

Dog owners often wonder if they’re feeding their dogs the right food. For Tom Arrix, that question was answered by a veterinarian oncologist after his dog Cooper was diagnosed with lymphoma.

The oncologist told Arrix if he doesn’t start feeding his dog ingredients like healthy wholesome foods, he really doesn't have a chance to recover. This advice changed Cooper's diet and Arrix's career.

Arrix says the whole notion about fresh meals and eating wholesome foods was the ultimate driving force of starting Get Joy.
