It started in the late 1990s as home to the Bridgeport Bluefish baseball team, but the baseball diamond is now a stage and venue where some of the biggest names in entertainment perform.
When most people go to a concert at a venue like the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater all eyes are on the stage, but there's a whole lot going on behind the scenes. And it all happens in the 30,000 square-feet backstage.
Performers have access to the star suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. They also get their own choice of candy and have access to a cafeteria that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
There are also nine dressing rooms, each with a bathroom. A video game room, ice cream bar, outdoor lounge with a fireplace and an autograph wall are just some of the other highlights.
"This is our autograph wall, so from the first day we started we decided to create memorabilia here every year," says amphitheater president Howard Saffan.
As the performers walk through the Artist Hall, there are specially curated photos lining the walls. The photos are swapped out for every performer to feature the history of the artist or band.
The Amphitheater also hosts college graduations, job fairs and more. It has become a multi-purpose venue for the area.
