In this week's Made in Connecticut, News 12's Rebecca Surran takes you to Milford to learn more about the work&nbsp;being done at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kinshipglassworks.com/">Kinship Glassworks</a>.

Kinship Glassworks in Milford is a business that came out of the pandemic feeling stronger than ever.

Ok. We started off with some really cold temperatures today, but you say things are gonna change, things are gonna change tomorrow will still be a nice chilly start, but we start to improve. Certainly for your Saturday, Saturday is gonna be a good day to get out and about take care of some things. Christmas decorating shopping, make sure that those decorations are tied tight. Sunday. We got a lot of rain and wind which are really gonna tear things down. I guess you could say as we get into your Sunday, I'm gonna show you what things look like in a little bit. But again for today, we're working with that colder air. 39 is the forecast said hi, we're really gonna feel like the thirties through out the day. Again, those feel like numbers for the later part of this morning are really gonna be in the twenties 26 for Newtown, 27 for orange and heading into this afternoon, we'll try to feel like the thirties will be at or around freezing. And again, once you catch those strong bursts of wind or those gusts, it's certainly gonna give you a winter like, feel So you do got a brace for that for your today tonight. It will be a chilly start for you tomorrow, we do start to rebound as we head into your Friday afternoon, we finally feel like the forties. And then the next story is Sunday's rain. We're watching for heavy rain that we know strong damaging winds gusts upwards to 40 maybe 50 MPH that we know. It's just the timing we're really trying to get, uh, in, I guess you can say congruence as we push forward into right now, looks to be the later half of your sunny so sunny morning looks to be ok if you got to run some errands. But listen, again, as mentioned, if you got those holiday decorations up around the house, you do want to maybe secure them a little bit tighter, maybe take them down because as we work with this heavy rain, which won't be the biggest issue. We could still see some coastal flooding. It's going to be those strong gusty winds upwards to 4050 maybe even 60 MPH for some spots. And again, as far as rainfall totals for right now, we're looking at maybe an inch to two when things are all said and done. But again, Sunday, the second half of your day into the early parts of your Monday will be the be that time period that we're watching for the system, um, to really bring in some messy weather as we wrap up the weekend and open up next and as we're getting into your Monday, yeah, we're looking at 58 degree high. That's gonna be for that very early part of your Monday. As we have that strong cold front, bringing in chillier air temperatures will be on the decline throughout the day. Becky.

Made in Connecticut: Kinship Glassworks in Milford

Well, glass blowing is an art form that dates back thousands of years and this week in maine Connecticut, I take it in Milford to learn more about the work being done at kinship Glassworks. My name is Christopher d'Amato. I'm a glass blower and this is kinship glassworks. I think it's just the material itself, the way it refracts light, the way it feels in your hands. The minute I walked into the studio I knew it was something I wanted to do. And then I was able to go after my dream. That dream materialized in a brand new 5000 square foot studio in Milford in early 2020 and then we were here ready to go, the building was done, everything was installed, equipment was here and the country shut down because of covid you ready for the sun. So if you look in there about 3" down from the top of the crucible is actually the glass. The sun did shine again for demo and he got to work. So we're constantly turning so if I stop turning gravity takes over right away. We're working with three layers or three gather of glass. So we start with one gathering clear, we create a bubble or cavity. I'm gonna come here, put a little bit of air, a little bit of air trapped in the pipe and it inflates the bubble, Another layer of glass is added, then the pieces rolled in tiny bits of colored glass sprinkles on ice cream. I just roll into the material and it sticks to the surface then a third layer of glass and the piece is reheated and reworked again and again. The team shaping not only their art, but also a company for the years ahead. It went from not really knowing if I was going to be successful because of what happened with Covid to coming out the other side. So we're just really looking forward to what's to come. Yeah, Kinch of Glassworks. They have what they call gatherings or groups come together where it's corporate group or whether it's, you know, maybe a group of moms or couples and they have a party and they also can observe what's being done with the glass blowing.
