Hey, we made it to Friday. It's time for main Street, Connecticut. A chance to showcase our local towns and cities and the things they have to offer today. News 12 Connecticut's Justin Devellis is at Sam Bridge Nursery and greenhouses in Greenwich. Good morning, Mark. Good morning. We're playing some reindeer games this morning. It's almost time for breakfast. We're here with Tammy Kettler of the Greenwich Reindeer Festival. We're here with Maggie Bridge. Good morning, everyone. Thanks so much for having us. Good morning, Jess. Thank you. All right. So talk to me. I mean, what do we got here? What we have here is the 16th Greenwich Reindeer Festival in Santa's Workshop. We have beautiful Sandbridge nursery and greenhouses here in Greenwich, Connecticut. And we have three live Reindeer Santas, three live reindeer here for the 16th year and they always arrive the day after Thanksgiving and we're here until Christmas Eve. Actually, the Reindeer leave the 23rd. They need to get ready for their big night. But Santa stays and we have photos with Santa inside. Beautiful Sandbridge Nursery, beautiful Christmas trees and Maggie will talk more about all of Sandbridge at eight o'clock. But the Grinch Ranger Festival attracts thousands of people throughout the, uh, four weeks and it's really become a family tradition for so many families. Oh, I love it. You see them running around a little bit. It looks like we're getting some breakfast here. How about the antlers too? I mean, talk a little bit about the reindeer. I know. Look at the antlers now, I don't know. A lot of people don't know, but both the male and female reindeer grow antlers. And today we have uh dasher, she's uh a large reindeer female reindeer. We have Iris who's been coming to visit Sam Bridge now for about four years and one of Iris's babies, we have little uh baby Iris and we have a name the Baby Reindeer contest going on inside. And that's thanks to some of our sponsor. People can come and enter the raffle to name the reindeer and it's just so much fun. I love it. And I just asked you my last question to you before we went on here was how do we keep the reindeer from flying out of this enclosure? And what was your answer? Well, you know, who helps make the Reindeer fly? Santa and Santa does his magic Christmas Eve. And that's when the Ranger Fly Christmas Eve. So right now, they're just very content here in Greenwich. They love coming to Greenwich, they love coming to Sandbridge. And if you haven't been to Sandbridge, it's a treat it's, uh, really one of the most beautiful places here in Greenwich. And, uh, just families are blown away that haven't been here, but hundreds of families come every year and Sam Bridge is so well known in the area. So it's really just an honor to be here at the Reindeer festival. Well, thank you so much. Thanks for shedding some light. Thanks for giving us some fun facts. Oh, hey, Greenwich, Reindeer festival.com. That's the website. You're gonna wanna go on for this great event. We talked about it a little bit in the seven o'clock show as my antlers kind of get, get loose here, but we turn the lights on and everything because we're feeling festive this morning. Uh, to my right here. This is Maggie Bridge, one of the partners here at Sam Bridge Nursery and Greenhouses. I'm trying to keep these up here. I mean, how about all this stuff that is just surrounding us here? I mean, it must have taken so long to put all this up. Yeah, absolutely. Welcome to our Christmas shop here at Sam Bridge. It actually takes three weeks to set this up. Um And it's only a small portion of what we have here today, but we're proud host of the Greenwich Reindeer Festival. And we're just really excited to welcome the Christmas season. We have a full Christmas shop here. We also do a freezer for Christmas trees with free installation. So we'll put the tree right in the house, stand in place in the room you want to go in. We also grow a ton of points that is here right here at the nursery and also holiday plants. Myler almost hit the top of the door. And uh and then also you during the festival, not only do we have photos with Santa on um well, really uh Monday through Friday and then also Saturdays and Christmas Eve. Um and it just like smells, I mean, just the smell of this. I mean, this is the holidays, this is Christmas. I mean, just walking around here puts me in a good mood. Oh, absolutely. It's uh nothing beats the smell of fresh greens. It's absolutely amazing. Um And uh one of the things that we're really excited to offer along with all of this amazing Christmas stuff is an opportunity to help local kids portion of every photo with Santa sold goes to kids in crisis. We also host their giving tree so you can buy items that the kids need and 100% of the proceeds go directly to kids in crisis and what they need. We also host the toys for tots drop boxes and we would love to get some more donations for that. So if you're coming by unwrapped brand new toys for toys for tots, and we're hoping to get all kinds of stuff for kids in need this season. So, in addition to being festive, we've got some really awesome opportunities going on and talk to me about the hours again. Yeah, sure. So we are here 830 to 6 Monday through Saturday and the Reindeer are available for viewing on during those hours as well as well. And photos with stand around 12 to 6 Monday through Friday and 9 to 6 on Saturday. Ok. All right. So get here, get here early. Make sure you get your picture with Santa and maybe purchase something in the gift shop there because you got a lot of great. There's so much to see. So we welcome everybody to come by it.
