All right, here we are on a Friday, and that means it's time for Main Street, Connecticut, a chance to showcase our local towns and cities and all that they have to offer. Today we're in New Canaan. News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudall begins at the New Canaan Nature Center. Hey, we are gonna be talking to Bill Flynn here at the Nature Center this morning. Thank you so much for being with us. What, what are your hours here? So we're open from 9 to 4 Monday through Saturday, um, but our trails are open, uh, dawn till dusk because this is a public park of New Canaan. So every day 365 days a year, uh, the trails are accessible. Wow, that's great stuff. I wanna introduce your fantastic son Henry. Henry, good morning. How are you, brother? Good. I want you to tell me about this bear over here. Let's go over here and you tell me about this bear. What's the deal? This is a real bear, but it is just not alive. These artists realize they're. Well, this bear actually used to be at our house. There was. Someone who had this bear in his house and he and he had to get rid of it so he was just like, OK, who would want this bear? Oh wait, I know that Bill works at the nature center. I'll, I bet he would like it. And so he gave it to us. It was in our house for a second until we finally put it here where I am talking about it right now. All right, now tell me you've got, uh, uh, your namesake over here, Henry the rabbit. What's his deal? Well, he is a black rabbit. He is kind of shy-ish, I mean. He likes to go into that, that's his little house. And you have a tortoise, is that right? Tell us about this tortoise. The red footed tortoise, he is actually one of my favorite animals in the nature center. I love him. He, he likes being scratched on the back. One of his feet, one of his foot has, see that one? It only has three toenails. So and how he got here was. Well there was someone who had had this tortoise and she was going to get a job in England so she was just like, OK, what do I do to the to my beautiful tortoise? and so she brought it into the nature center and now I love him. He, I read to him sometimes. He sometimes he's on the floor. Henry, you're fantastic. I didn't realize too that, uh, he feels, Romeo feels that when you scratch his shell. I had no idea. No, it's because he just like wants to get attention. He's like just like a puppy. He just wants to get attention. He loves interacting with people. Awesome. Henry, Bill, thank you so much. A lot of fun stuff to see here at the Nature Center, Becky, we have some food in our next hour. Pretty well done.

News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudall is at the Silver Mine Market. Well, Silver Mine Market is celebrating 19 years coming up next week. Joining me this morning is Scott Glewski. Is that correct? Thank you so much for doing this. You, you may be one of the best kept secrets around here. Where are you located and what are your hours? We're located at 1032 Silver Mine Road in New Cana. And we're open from 8:30 to 3 during the weekend, Saturdays and Sundays, 8:30 to 2. So what's your, the food that you specialize in? Uh, breakfast and lunch, uh, and we do full catering as well. We've done weddings and we've done engagements. We've had somebody engaged, got engaged here. Uh, yeah, when we do full, uh, either staff party or just even if you want to pick up stuff and bring it home, we can do that as well. Um, we've done food for, uh, celebrity clientele like Martha Stewart over there. Um, nice. Tell me about your pottery. You do, you make this stuff. In addition to, uh, working here, I also take classes across the street at the Silver Mine Guild of artists. Uh, and pottery class. I've been doing that for about 5 years now. And this is just some of the work that I've had. Um, I sell it here as well. Uh, there's only so much you can keep in your own home. Yeah, that's right. It looks great. Thank you. And you, uh, I find this so interesting. Some of our viewers may remember the old cartoon High and Lowest, and you are actually in one of the old cartoons, huh? Uh, the artist, the author, um, used to have his office upstairs, um, until he moved to an artist's uh loft in, uh, Norwalk, uh, and he would put the owners into, um, the comics, managed to make it into two of them. That is crazy, wow, um. You have some fantastic items here. What, what, what have we made here this morning? Well, we made our signature egg and cheese sandwich, OK, um, and also our homemade pancakes. Everything's made from scratch. Oh, OK. All right, I guess I'm gonna start with the pancakes here first. These look homemade pancakes. So what? Buttermilk pancakes? Buttermilk pancakes, huh? You can't go wrong with those at any time of the day or night. I mean, sometimes I'll have pancakes for, for dinner. I do too. Holy mackerel. And with the powdered sugar on top, you don't even need syrup on it. Yeah, I don't, I don't even. I don't need syrup. That is delicious, so good. Let me uh see what's going on with this little baby. This is a bacon, egg and cheese? No, just an egg and cheese, just an egg and cheese. There's a little look at that. Look at that baby. Delicious, worth gold these days with the price of eggs. Mm. Oh. Soft and delicious, right, doesn't get any fresher. So good. All right, wonderful, Scott, thank you so much.
