It's time for Main Street Connecticut. Our weekly segment highlighting local businesses and events in our area. Well, news 12, Connecticut's Justin Deves is in Stratford for us this morning with a preview of the annual Shakes Beer Festival. Justin Well, Becky Shakespeare was my favorite subject to study in school. And beer is kind of one of my favorite topics to study now. So it's the best of both worlds. We're here with Mike Laia, a coordinator of this weekend's event. Mike, thanks so much for joining us this morning. Um, beautiful here out on the water. Uh, nobody here right now, but tomorrow this place is going to be packed. Tell me a little bit about it. Yes. So tomorrow one o'clock, we're going to come down, we'll have 60 breweries represented and we're going to have food trucks, we're going to have games. We're going to have private vendors. There'll be bands from one o'clock to 130 then again, from 2 to 4, we're going to have a, we're going to have a great time. So the Strafford old timer started putting this on three years ago. This will be our third festival. The festival itself has been around for seven years. All the money we raise goes to local youth organizations for sports. We also give over $20,000 out in scholarship. So Stratford Old Timers Athletic Association and Shakespeare. If you have time tomorrow from 1 to 4, come on down and get your tickets online and we're going to put that ticket link on our website for sure. But I mean, that's just great. You guys all that money too. Yes. This means so much to the community. Everything we raise goes right back to the community, whether it's the kids of the community or adult Children getting ready to start their college career. And we got local, we're talking two roads, right? We, we got bad sons. We have, I can't remember all of them when I'm sure breweries you got to come down and have a great time. 60 breweries. Ok. Bottom line Shakespeare Festival. You guys have been putting this on for a couple of years now, right? It's going to be a great event tomorrow. So, come on down. We're going to have the ticket link for you on our website. We're here on Elm Street, the Shakespeare Festival. Saturday from 1 to 41 to 41 to 4. Ok. He's in Stratford second stop, Tasty Oak on Main street, Justin Becky. The ovens are on. They got the bacon on the grill here. The smell in this place is just amazing. We're joined by the co owner of Tasty Yolk, Eric Fit. Thank you so much for joining us. Happy to be here. Nice, bright and early. Yeah. Talk to me. What's in front of you here? This is the pig. This is our famous bacon egg and cheese. I mean, the most popular item on the menu by far and look at it. It's nice and fluffy looking good, ready to bite in. And I want to say thank you for, you know, letting us come in renting out this, you know, because this place, this place is always packed huge lines coming out of this place and it was nice too like, you know, he brought in an early customer. He was psyched, got in the door early home to be there. Yeah, it's a busy place. We're very grateful to be here in Stratford. I live here now and it's been wonderful since we've gotten here. Couple locations. Right. We know your food truck over there on Park Avenue. You got a couple of food trucks, but you got something else in the work we were talking about. Right. So, as of right now, come October, we should be opening our new location up in Branford. We've been really excited about that. We've, we've been working on it for a long time now. And yeah, keep spreading the, spreading the eggs all around the tri state one day. And how many eggs we were talking, how many eggs do you guys go through? We talked about this, but I would say on average it would be about 1000 dozen a week through our outlets, you know, not just one location, but we have, you know, the amphitheater and the food trucks that been the parties we pack and then, you know, also our two stores right now, 12,000 eggs. His next stop, the Stratford Antique Center on Honey Spot Road, Justin. I bet you there's plenty of fines there, plenty of fines. Becky. I've, I'm actually under strict instructions from our photographer Kenny here to not touch anything in this building because I might break something here at the Stratford Antique Center. We're joined by the manager, Nancy Cole. Good morning. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you. Talk to us a little bit about this place. I mean, people, this is a huge building. It's the big blue building right off of 95. If you don't already know, tell us a little bit about this place. Nancy. Yes. The Stratford Antique Center has been here for 30 years plus owned by the same family. We have approximately 200 plus dealers. They all rent their spaces, their cases bring in their items for sale, everything from candlesticks to antique, vintage clothing to artifacts, of furniture. The sky is the limit and you talk a little bit more about that. I mean, walking in here, I mean, you can find everything from, uh, you know, fur coats to gum ball machines and this stuff is great if these walls could talk, uh, the walls could talk. They actually do talk in here. I, I believe there's little ghosts in here that keep this place alive and well, and going, um, that does not turn over quickly, by the way, uh, the dealers that come in tend to stay for years and years and years until it's ended by either moving away or just passing on to a different way of life. Um, they have a allowing waiting list probably 4 to 6 years or a booth. Sometimes the case is a little sooner. We do keep a list of the names and call people when a case or booth comes up available for rent. And as you said, there is furniture, there's dishes in China, there's jewelry. Um, the booths really vary. As I said, they're all individual dealers. So their style, their decorating is all their own. They're wonderful work with. They have great dealers in here and I encourage anyone who has not been here before to please come in and we're open seven days a week from 10 to 5.
