It's Thursday. That means it's time for main Street, Connecticut. When we explore all kinds of fun locations and towns and cities across our area. News 12 Connecticut's Justin De Bees is in Stratford for us all morning. Long first stop. Oh, you're already into it at the pickle Barrel. What kind of sandwich do you have there? Justin? Oh my God, Becky. I'm sorry. This is the world famous pickle Barrel, bacon egg and cheese. I'm gonna try to bite it. Here. We are here with my men, the head chef, Mr Eddie Delgado. How you doing today, sir? Great God. Thank you for having us. I mean, what's on the menu today? What's on the menu? We're gonna have like chicken marsala as the main entree. We're gonna have the Steve special. This is our strong sandwich today. That's fried chicken color it with onion rings. Russian dressing, melted cheese. Oh my God. Oh, so I'll do one of each. I'll do one of each. And I used to live over here. I used to live over here. So I miss you. I used to come here every day there. We see people coming in here. People can't start their day without the pickle barrel. Talk about how much this place means to, to, to the community here. Oh, no, absolutely. We have all the customers at the neighbors and from the companies around us and everything. So we're happy for that and we keep the customer happy. That's our goal. Talk to me a little bit about the ingredients. I mean, everything's, everything's house made. Everything is house made every day in the morning. We get the products we prepare and then we get it ready for lunch time. And how about uh football seasons right around the corner? How about those big uh subs, those big 6 ft subs every year? We got the special for the for the fans of the football. So we made the three footer, three footer. Anyone, the customer, one like an Italian combo, someone most famous one uh with five meats, special cheese, lettuce, tomato balsamic vinegar, whatever the customer wants and uh talk to me. Everything's por, is that right? Everything's nice. Nice. I love it. So what uh what do you guys got coming up? You got coming up, we got, we got all the food here, right? We got it out. We got, what is this croissants over here? What is that croissant? Yes. Right. Love them. M is coming in a couple of minutes and, and, and how about all the workers back here? I mean, you come into this place and you'll see like 15 people in the back here because we try to accommodate the customers as fast as we can. So that way they don't spend too much time order and, and take it out. I love it. Well, Eddie, thank you so much. I could talk to you all day. Becky, I guess I, I, we could take a break here. Uh I won the first three games by the way that we played. The fourth one wasn't playing. Uh We're here at the cricket car hop with Andrew Sando. My man, we had to come back. You have the news 12 sticker in the window still from when we were here? Couple months ago. Uh How you doing? How's the cricket car hop doing? We love this place. Great. We're busy. It's, it's our season. Nice summer weather. It's bringing all the customers. Yeah. Talk to me a little bit about uh this uh famous hot dog eating contest you got coming up this summer. Uh The hot dog eating contest is the Saturday of Labor Day and this year it falls on August 31st and, uh, it's just a really great family event to come to and watch, uh, all the pros and amateurs eat their way to, to victory. Yes. And, and, and so the cricket car hop, I mean, for people who don't know, I don't know how you couldn't. But, so it's been around since, like 1950 right? The original cricket. And now this is the second location you guys started in, in 2017. Is it with the second location? Yeah, we've been here about seven years now. Love it and talk to me a little bit about. I mean, we got, we got all the history here. You keep these photos up because this place has been, you know, around forever and then the ribbon cutting over there 2017. Um and then we got this giant menu over here. Talk to me a little bit about, you know, some of these uh main, I think we had the Wrangler the last time we were here. Talk about that a little bit. Uh Our menu is pretty expansive, you know, there's something for everybody. And uh the most important thing about our menu is that everything is fresh quality and um and just real fast food, love it. And senior discounts on Tuesdays. Yep, senior discounts on Tuesdays, you could join our rewards program and we always have some kind of special going on. We have Lobster rolls for the summer right now and we always have the best hot dogs, burgers, fries, shakes, chicken steaks. You name it. Love it. All right. Well, we'll get back on the sticks. Well, Becky, we had the food right now. We're here and look at this. This is how, this is how I got here. This is how I got here, the two roads van and check it out. This license plate is legit. It is actually registered the beer license plate and it runs on good vibes, right? We said over here, Ben Pere here we're just having a conversation here about two roads. I mean, what, what don't you guys have here on this camp? We've got quite a lot. I mean, between our beer garden right here with the hop yard where we do our concerts and everything like that. Our tea box newly opened the food hall and bar area to our original tap room. We have a lounge now that welcomes all all ages family friendly. So we do have quite a lot here on our 10 acre campus, family friendly, love that and the T box, obviously that golf for all the golf fans out there, they just added that simulator, which is really, really nice. Um, talk to me also seems like, you know, you guys have something going on every single night with all these events, talk a little bit all the time, all the time, you know, and when you come to two roads, you definitely are not going to, you know, be short on things to do. We have our Wednesday's trivia, Thursday's jukebox bingo Fridays. We have a rooftop cigar night at area too. Saturday, Sunday, live music and bands in the, you know, we have festivals, we just finished our massive summer fest. We have our, you know, lonely roads fest coming up, our October fest, the biggest one in the state coming up soon. So we're always looking to do, you know, events and have our spaces activated even little things that we can do whether it's candle making jewelry making. We have a cocktail competition at the food hall coming up with all local bartenders participating. So anyway, that we can really, you know, get everybody together. We always give it a shot. I love that you can check them out online, you can check them out on social media, Instagram. And I think I'm just going to stay here, Becky. I'm not even going to come back to the office. I think I'm just going to stay right here in Stratford at two roads. What do you think? Why would you leave? You've got the food, you've got the beer.
