All right, we made it to Friday. It's time for Main Street, Connecticut, a chance to showcase our local towns and cities and all they have to offer. This week we're in Bridgeport. News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudall is at Holmes for the Brave. Mark. Well, Becky, we are here previewing the 9th annual For Veterans by Veterans Comedy Night. It is tonight in Stratford at Pizano's Four Seasons. $100 gets you dinner and the show and in all the proceeds benefit Homes for the Brave here. Vincent Tilly from Homes for the Brave is with us this morning. Thank you and tell us about you. A pretty good acts tonight, huh? Well, good morning, Mark, and we sure do. This is the 9th time we've done this. Each of our professional comics is a US military veteran. That's why we call it the Four Veterans by Veterans comedy night, and it's going to be a tremendous show. We have 2 Army veterans and 1 US Navy veteran that are performing this evening. Each of them is terrific. One's coming up from New Jersey, one coming down from Massachusetts, and one all the way from Alabama who was a major in the US Army and did 3 tours of duty in Iraq. So this is really special and when these comics come and perform, it's not just another comedy show for them. Now tell me this, uh. You've been here on Park Avenue. I know for for quite a while. You just went through some renovations here. Tell us about it. That's great. Oh, this is so exciting and what we did is we expanded, renovated, and the big thing is we installed an elevator which is sorely needed because more and more of the veterans we're seeing are experiencing really difficulty navigating. And so this is just the elevator is a crown jewel of the project. We're standing in the library now and this is. Just something to behold, we encourage reading among our veterans. We have our computers up here, so we do computer training and so forth, and this is all designed to get our veterans back on their feet and get them permanently housed and not just survive but thrive in the communities that they're going out to. And so we're just so proud of this room and if I told you this is a this library is in a dormitory at Yale University, it would not look out of place. Now I know you have a grand opening coming up. We're just not sure when, right? Right. Well, we're finalizing some rooms in the house. We're putting a music room in, a reflection room, which is really important to help the the gentleman reflect and meditate. We even have yoga mats in there and then the exercise room. We just got a uh an elliptical machine donated. And we're waiting to finish different aspects of that. We're waiting for some funding to help us do that, but it's going to be just something to behold and so when we get that completed, which we're racing to do it, we will then have our opening and wait till you see this building. We hope that happens. And Vince real quick before we go, get a quick clean joke you can share with us? No. Uh, well, I'm, I'm gonna leave it to the, to the, it sounds good, folks, and, and you know what, we're close to a sellout, but there's just a few tickets left, so don't get to. News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudall is at the adventure Park at the Discovery Museum in the city with more for us. Mark, you look like you're ready to go. You get the harness on. Oh, Becky, ready and fired up here, yeah, we're. Uh, we're here at the Adventure Park as they get ready to open today. Today is their big day and if you remember last year we were here and I walked across this little bridge here, well, I thought that was something just wait until you see me zip line here today. I have a very good teacher in the good hands of Chris Moon. Thank you so much for being with us again. It's a pleasure to be here. So tell us about the opening and all the excitement. Well, let's see, today is our first day for the season. We're open from today at 3 o'clock today till Thanksgiving weekend. Well, that's a long stretch, a great, great fun time. And over the winter we've been working on some new additions and improvements, and you're on one of them right now. Yeah, look at that 1st, 1st 1, Absolutely. The new dragonfly course. You will be the first non-staff person to go on it. I'll go with you. All right. Good. Um, so you get a lot of schools that come here, but a lot of businesses too. This is a great team builder, right? Absolutely. So we have 5 year olds and 6-year-olds. A parent comes with them, and then they get to go on our purple course. And then 789 year olds, 1011 year olds come with parents, uh, school groups, corporate groups for team building, or a husband and wife on a no-child date. How does that go? All right, very well, because we're open depending on the time of the year till 8 at night, 9 at night, 10 at night, and we have lights throughout the park, so it's illuminated. And well, as you walk down the hill and cross our little bridge of enchantment, you enter the aerial world of magic. So at an early age, I guess you always wanted to be Peter Pan. Absolutely. My mother would say, go climb in the trees and swing on a rope. That's really what she did tell me to do. Yes. So, and obviously people wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't safe. You've got, we got all the proper, you know, hookups, latches, and everything else like that. You are connected with our harness over here, our locked clips that stay on there. You've got our zip trolley, so everything is ready for a person to go have a real fun time. In the trees. All right, well, um, I guess I gotta try this thing, you can go right ahead. How do I do this? I just jump off, zip away, zip away, sit right down, sit right down, have fun. Hey. Nice. OK, that wasn't too bad. You stuck the landing. That was great Shannon.
