Oh, we made it to Friday time for Main Street, Connecticut. Every week. We travel to different towns and cities in our area to show you what they have to offer. And today we're in Trumbull News. 12, Connecticut's Mark. Sudal is at the Trumble Cafe and grill. Good morning, Becket. It's a great spot here. Locals obviously know about this place and have for a long time. Now, it used to be across the street. It's been over here for a little while now, Mary Rojas is going to join us this morning. How are you? How are you? Good morning? Good. So tell us what makes this place so popular. You got a good crowd here already. Yeah. So, um, this place is very popular since, uh, we have with the business from uh 2018. So we was across the street over there, uh Marie's place, but now we're moving here almost three years in this place. So it's a very popular place for breakfast and lunch only. And we serving like a Mexican dishes, breakfast, Mexican lunch and combine it with American breakfast and American, you know, sandwiches, salads and we can make whatever the customer wants so we can make it. So, what do you got cooking up here this morning? Uh, we wanna cook in some, uh, pancakes, some, uh, uh, omelets and a popular breakfast taco. That sounds good. She said anyway that she's going to have a little something for us. Actually, if you want to go get that for a second, is that all right? You can put it right here. That's, that's great. Um, So while she was doing that, you know what I, what I like about this place too is you got, you got your, your cast of regulars here, which is phenomenal. I had the pleasure of meeting these fine gentlemen, John Tom and Ron. They've been coming here for a long time and let's see. Where are you going here? Let me go over here, John. What, what is it about this place? What is it? The place is great. The food is outstanding and the staff is wonderful, very friendly, nice, beautiful place stop by. I mean, it's just, I mean these guys are getting to know each other. They, they eat, they talk a little bit about sports. I mean, this is America right here. Come on guys, this is what it's all about. This is America. Um This is what, what I would be doing if I wasn't working actually because I love to eat as you know what Mary, what is this Rancheros two toll in the bottle? Oh, do you have a fork. I don't want to use my fingers. Although the avocado does look good and it's gonna be a 20, are you killing me with this wrapped fork right now? You're killing me here. Wait a minute. Hold on. What's this? Oh, man. Who, that'll get you going in the morning? Becky. We're gonna see if Plass Farm coming up in our next hour. Ok. We'll let you have a little bit more of that breakfast there. All right, we made it to Friday. That means it's time for main Street, Connecticut. Every week. We travel to different towns and cities in our area to show you what they have to offer today. We're in Trumbull News 12, Connecticut's Mark. Sudal is at Plass Farm, Mark. Good morning, Becky Alasko Farm has been here in Trumbull for generations. One of the still the oldest working farms in the town here now and he joins this morning is the man himself. John Plas is here. Good morning. Welcome. Welcome to our farm. Great to have you here this morning. Now, you have so much to offer here. You put this cafe in during COVID and it's been a real big hit. That's correct. Yeah, we open in 2020 COVID us a little bit in the opening, but we got it done. So we opened in 2020. And now here we are here, we are full service cafe. Every espresso drink you could imagine hot apple cider, hot cocoa. Perfect for a fall afternoon or a fall evening. And unlike some of the other coffee joints, you can get the pumpkin spice or you can get pumpkin spice latte all year long because we know there's those pumpkin spice fans, so we want to keep them happy all year long. So, absolutely, absolutely. Amongst a bunch of other things, you can see our menu there as well. So yeah, we're really proud of the cafe and of course, as we head into the ice cream room here, now, you are also known for your proud of our ice cream. You have wonderful ice cream as we know is made here on premises. It's what we call a small batch of ice cream. So we make it in increments of five gallons at a time. So it's all handcrafted. We put a lot of tender love and care into that. All the best ingredients and like I said, we've been come to know him very well for our ice cream. We're very, very, very, very proud of it. So actually Kaylyn Cardozo, our general manager is over here. She's standing by with the ice cream and what do you have? We have 24 different flavors to choose from and our most popular right now would be our pumpkin ice cream. And we're about to come out with our apple cider doughnut ice cream. I didn't even know that was possible. We do the impossible. We do the impossible mark. That's what we do here. We have the apple cider doughnuts. We're famous for our apple cider doughnuts. Those have been a staple here for about 30 something years. So yeah, everybody comes for the special. Yeah. And this time of year at fall apple cider doughnuts. Perfect compliment again to your, to your fall afternoon along with all our other fall activities that we have at the farm, which include the corn, maize, the corn, maize course, our corn maze, which we've been doing for gosh, over 27 years now. And this year it's a Jurassic adventure theme, dinosaur themed corn maze with our monster mystery game, which a lot of my grandkids will love. Oh, they'll love it. It's great for the family and the kids, the kids love it. It's a nice little adventure. They have a little game card, they can go through the maze. It's a lot of fun. You can pick your own pumpkins. Right. Yeah, we have thousands of pumpkins to choose from pumpkins, Gores. You name it. We try to give folks the full experience. You know, I always say we're not the largest farm around, but we do the most of what we've got and we keep, we keep it fun, we kept it and that's why people for generations keep coming back year after year. And you know what I love about John is, he's such a hard work, you know, he was actually really a pilot by trade. He's been in the family for a long time and you told your dad you'd never do this. And you hear. Yeah. Yeah, we're over 100 years. Old, I'm third generation. And, yeah, I did tell my dad and I said, dad, I, getting involved in this, you'll never get me. Well, you never know. Right. I always tell people you never know where you'll go in life and happy to be here. Really love doing it. You know, have some really great people, great staff and, you know, we give folks a great experience. It's just a lot of, a lot of fall family fun here right at Plas Coasts and you have survived, you know, that the storms that came through, you lost some ice cream, but you did survive. The storms were a challenge we had. Well, I don't know if it was a tornado or a micro burst that came through. We lost power for three days that challenging, you know, we got, we got through that and then of course, the rains, we had the crazy rains that came and gosh, I don't know, was it probably close to 18 inches of rain we got in a few days, which was crazy, but we survived. Our corn may survived. We're going strong. We're really excited about entering the fall of the fall season. Our favorite time of the year, John, thank you so much.
