It's Friday. It's time for main Street Connecticut. A time when we take you to different towns and cities in our area to show you what they have to offer today. We're in Westport. It's restaurant week news 12, Connecticut's Mark su begins us at needs bakery, Mark Good morning, Becky Arva. The realm of all these baked goods in here is just really tantalizing. It's fantastic. Joining me this morning is Brittany Moreno. Her and her husband own the bakery here. Thank you for joining us. Of course. Thank you so much for coming. Good morning everyone. Yeah. So you guys opened really during the height of COVID. What was that like? Yeah. So we opened September 5th of 2020. It was a really interesting experience but, um, you know, we were able to really become a part of the community, uh, pretty much right away. You know, we had a great following from the start and uh it was really, really nice to, you know, be welcome to the community in such a nice way. And um you know, our menu, we were just kind of catered to be able to make everything to go. And um, uh, we just kind of worked from there. So tell us about some of the, the big goodies that you have here. Uh So one of the main things that we do is we mill our own flour. Uh So a lot of our breads and pastries are whole grain. So a little bit different than you might find, but we really feel like it's, um, you know, you want freshly ground coffee to have the best cup of coffee. Why not have freshly ground flour to make the best pastry? So what do you think folks come in here for the most? Probably hard to, it's hard to say. Um You know, our, our yogurt and granola is one of the standouts on the menu. Um But in the pastry case, I think, you know, the poo chocolat and the chocolate chunk cookie are big item for us. And you said even during the holidays, I mean, you get a lot of folks coming in for pies, right? Uh Yeah, so we're coming up on Thanksgiving. Uh you know, it's a month away but uh it'll be here sooner than you think, sooner than you think. And you know, are the big thing there. We also do prepared prepared foods for that as well. I'm going to try. So this is the chocolate croissant. You got an apple turnover, apple turn over that for my photographer Kenny. Signs of this. Oh, so soft and delicious and got a nice little chocolate going on there. Oh, and it goes, I don't, I'm not supposed to talk of my mouth but this is amazing. Becky. I'll see if I can, uh, get a couple of these. Is this what you would like, Becky? Now, this or, uh, ok. All right. I got that next hour.

Well, it's Friday and time for Main Street Connecticut. A time when we take you to different towns and cities in our area to show you what they have to offer. And today we're in Westport News 12, Connecticut's Mark. Zal joins us from Main Street Mark. It's Restaurant Week there. It sure is. Becky. It started at the end of last month. It goes until October 13th and there are 20 restaurants taking part some great deals to be had $25 plus for lunch, $35 plus for dinner. Joining us to talk about restaurant week and, and all things. Westport is the first selectman Jen Tooker. Good morning. Good morning, Mark. How are you? Good. Thank you so much for getting up so early. I was delighted to do so. It is early. It is early. Yes. So tell me about restaurant week. What a great thing. It is a great thing and we have such a vibrant restaurant scene here in Westport. And so I love the fact that we can feature it during restaurant week. Lots of affordable lunches, affordable dinners. People can actually give different restaurants a try. Um As you mentioned, there are 20 participating restaurants. So we want to see everybody come to Westport and see how vibrant our our town is. And I couldn't think of a better guest this morning to talk about the lovely town of Westport than you. Thank you. You always have great things going on here. What else can we look forward to coming up here in Westport? So, uh well, it's October. So we have at the end of this month, we'll be having a wonderful Halloween parade going right down this main street. We close off main street. All of our merchants come out with candy and in costumes and all the kids walk down Main street and, uh, and it concludes right in front of town hall at Veterans Green. So we've got that going on and then of course, we have a really busy retail season upon us as well with Thanksgiving and the holidays coming. Please come down to Westport and see all that our downtown has to offer. And I told you we were just that needs bakery. I mean, what a fantastic job they've done. They have. And thank you for reminding me my friends in the Sagat area of Westport would not be happy with me if I didn't give them a plug needs is fabulous. The we is fabulous. Match Burger Lobster is fabulous. All the restaurants along along railroad place down there, it's a great, it's a great area of Westport. And I told you that coming up in our next hour, we're going to be over it. What an institution, an institution. Absolutely. People come to Westport just to go to Gold's. So, it's definitely so, I'm so glad you'll be there next hour. Yeah. Great. Coming up at 80. Excellent. Well, I hope you're going to get something to eat. I, visiting all these wonderful places.
