Make-A-Wish Connecticut says about 50 wishes across the state are being delayed because of travel restrictions as a result of the coronavirus.
Make-A-Wish says COVID-19 is hurting many kids with special needs because they can't get all the services they need.
One of the last wishes the foundation was able to grant before the coronavirus outbreak was for 15-year-old Josiah Gray, from Bridgeport.
Gray is nonverbal, but his mother says that everyone says he lights up the room.
Gray's wish to go to Barbados was fulfilled around Christmas time, and his family says he loved the feeling of going into the ocean.
Make-A-Wish Connecticut's Pam Keough says a lot of children's wishes involve travel and since most airlines are limiting their operations, the wishes are being put on hold.
The foundation usually grants about 225 wishes a year. Make-A-Wish says its gala in April is postponed, and that it's trying to work on a virtual event.
Make-A-Wish is still accepting donations for when it can get back to normal.
