An Iowa man is facing charges in Darien this morning for allegedly smashing his way into a gas station and stealing cigarettes.
Police say 18-year-old Alex Nelson was arrested early yesterday a short distance from the BP station on Post Road.
They say Nelson forced his way through the front door of the gas station and took six cartons of cigarettes.
Investigators say Nelson admitted to taking the cigarettes.
They say he wanted to resell them because he was on his way to Canada and had run out of money for food.
