A 22-year-old man was killed and an 18-year-old woman was critically injured after a shooting outside a Waterbury nightclub early Saturday morning, according to police.

Police say the man killed is Trey-Von Dunbar of Waterbury.

Officers responded to LA 42 Night Club on East Main Street shortly after midnight on July 5 after receiving reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a large crowd gathered outside the club and evidence that gunfire had occurred, police said.

Police found an unresponsive 18-year-old Waterbury woman outside the nightclub suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Dunbar was also found nearby with a gunshot wound.

Both victims were taken to local hospitals for emergency treatment. Police said the 22-year-old man later died from his injuries, while the woman remains hospitalized in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting remains under active investigation, and no additional details about a suspect or what led up to the incident have been released.
