A Bronx man is on the run after the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) busted his alleged methamphetamine lab on Olinville Avenue during Operation Red Fusion.
Authorities say they confiscated meth, chemicals and tools used to make the drug from nine homes across the city and on Long Island. Investigators arrested 10 people, from corporate executives to auto mechanics, who allegedly purchased chemicals on the Web in a six-month probe. The DEA says the suspects were making meth for personal use, not for sale. Officials say highly toxic fumes are released in the process.
The suspects who were captured pleaded not guilty during arraignment in court and were released on bail. If convicted, some face up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
