Police department marine patrols are conducting safety checks in Greenwich this holiday weekend.
Cops say they are responsible for 25 square miles of the Long Island Sound, including safety checks, broken down boats and accidents. They say they check the registration, flairs, life jackets and the boat?s condition for safety violations.
Police encourage all boaters to use caution in the water.
