Marissa Alter is an award-winning reporter for News 12 Connecticut. She is a Woodbridge native who has been with the team since 2015. Prior to her New England return, Alter worked at WLKY, the CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, which included covering national trials, the Kentucky Derby, and the NCAA basketball tournament. Before that, she worked as a reporter and anchor at WREX, the NBC station in Rockford, Ill.
Alter graduated from Cornell University with a degree in American Studies. She got the news bug while studying in Washington, D.C., for a semester and taking an internship at CBS Evening News. After graduation, she went back to the capital and worked at CNN for a year before returning to school for a graduate degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University.
When not at work, she enjoys taking classes at the Bar Method, trying out local restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. She's also a big New York Yankees fan.
