On the second day of a three-day walkout, Stamford?s mayor met with striking workers Thursday at Stamford Hospital. While Mayor Dan Malloy says both the union and the hospital need to make some compromises, he clearly put more pressure on the hospital. The mayor says he believes it should honor the plan the union has had for a very long time.
Food service workers currently get their health insurance through the unions. The hospital's administration now wants its new food service workers to get insurance under the hospital's plan, but the workers say that plan is too expensive.
A hospital spokesperson says their health plan offers more choices and they believe it would be better for workers in the long run.Related Stories:
