McKinley Elementary School in Fairfield kicked off its Start With Hello call to action week today in an effort to prevent violence.
The Start With Hello week is organized by Sandy Hook Promise, a national nonprofit organization based in Newtown.
The program aims to prevent violence through education and organizing mental health and wellness programs.
Start With Hello encourages connectedness and inclusion in a simple yet impactful way by teaching students the skills needed to reach out to and include others.
Over the course of the week, students will take part in several activities including how to identify trusted adults in school and at home, and who they can go to when something's wrong.
