Police are searching for a Mercedes that was stolen from the I-95 south rest area in Fairfield with a cat inside.

The car belongs to a Boston-area auto dealer, and the owner says the safe return of Milo the cat is the top priority.

The theft happened around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Police believe a dark Hyundai Elantra with fake Ohio plates was involved.

The stolen vehicle is a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB 35 AMG with the dealer plate “MEDI.”

Police say a similar theft happened at the same rest stop during Thanksgiving week last year.
