The Milford Health Department is getting the word out about its Mosquito Control Program as mosquito season begins.

City officials demonstrated on Tuesday how mosquito breeding sites are treated and how residents can protect themselves and their homes.

"Public health is always a shared approach. So, while we as the city and as the health department are working to treat those breeding sites, we rely on our community to partner with us and take personal protective actions," said Deepa Joseph, health director of the Milford Health Department.

The department advises residents to follow the three Ds:

  • Drain or dump any standing water that may produce mosquitoes.

  • Dress – wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.

  • Defend against bites with repellent registered by the EPA.
