A Milford man is charged with attempted murder after police say he slashed his estranged wife?s throat.
Police say 44-year-old Jeffrey Schultz, who was recently served divorce papers, got into an argument with his wife Sunday after going to their home on Mary Ellen Drive. According to police, Schultz pulled out a knife and cut a six-inch gash across her throat. She ran out of the home and was able to get help.
Police found Schultz in the back yard, and claim he slit his own throat and wrist. Officers say they found a suicide note in his car.Schultz is being held at Yale New Haven Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. His wife is at the same hospital and is in stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery. Police say the couple does have kids, but they were not home at the time of the incident.
