(10/23/06) MILFORD ? The medical examiner?s office says more tests are needed on a man who died while in the custody of Milford police.
Police arrested Nicholas Brown outside a Red Roof Inn Thursday after reports he was sitting in a car with an aggressive pit bull. Police say they Tasered Brown twice when he attempted to run away. During a routine cell check later that evening, officers say Brown was sweating profusely. He went into cardiac arrest and died on his way to the hospital.
Brown?s family members say they?re outraged over the death. They claim the 24-year-old had asthma and a weak lung. According to the family, Brown should have been taken directly to a hospital instead of jail. The family says they?re planning to sue the police department. According to police, Brown admitted swallowing two marijuana cigarette butts. Police also say they did everything according to protocol.
