Some Milford residents are fighting a homeowner's decision to put a fence around a popular beachfront area.
Residents say they've been using the area for years, but the homeowner says that it's his property.
The residents gathered at Milford City Hall Tuesday night to discuss the issue. The meeting lasted nearly two hours, with several residents walking up to the podium to make their voices heard.
Charles Willinger represents Steven Micceri, who owns 108 Beach Ave. He says his client also owns the land across the street by the beach, and adds that it's been private property for more than 100 years.
Willinger says the homeowner decided to put up a decorative 3-foot fence around the property, arguing that people have done disruptive things there such as camping and leaving beer bottles.
Many residents, however, say that the spot is popular among joggers and walkers and putting a fence around it could ruin scenic views.
Willinger says he believes the barrier will be erected within a month.
