A crash at a shopping center on Melba Street in Milford is just the latest incident of the sort at the location.
Officials tell News 12 that the driver of a red Kia Soul had a medical emergency and lost consciousness before driving into the glass door of Kathy's Famous Cookies & More on Melba Street. Officials say no one was hurt inside the bakery.
Kathy Klein, owner of the bakery, tells News 12 the refrigerated case stopped the car from going further into the store. She said a nearby business owner pulled the driver out of the accelerating car and put it in park.
"Heard the impact and unfortunately recognized the sound," Greg Davies, owner of the Crushed Grape, told News 12.
Davies is familiar with that sound because a truck crashed into his store and the Dollar General three weeks ago. The driver in that crash was arrested after hitting a pedestrian while allegedly under the influence. In late 2015, another car crashed into the Crushed Grape when an elderly driver confused the gas and brake pedals.
Kathy's Famous Cookies & More reopened Tuesday afternoon.
