The mother of a 21-year-old stabbed to death outside the Stamford Plaza filed a lawsuit Thursday against the hotel and its parent company.
Family attorney Mark Carron says Layla Banks' death could have been avoided if the hotel had provided adequate security.
Banks was stabbed more than 50 times in the hotel's lobby by her ex-boyfriend after an alcohol-fueled party allegedly attended by as many as 100 underage teens and young adults.
"They had no cameras there, they had no listening devices," says Carron. "They had no patrols. And this occurred over more than an hour."
Banks' ex was sentenced to 40 years in prison for her death.
