More than 60 businesses in Danbury are expected to close Wednesday as part of a "Day Without an Immigrant" protest.

Organizers said the event is intended to highlight the economic and community impact immigrants have across the city.

The protest comes a week after a series of ICE enforcement operations.

Participating businesses plan to shut their doors for the day in support of the effort.

A rally and march are also scheduled for 5 p.m.

The demonstration will begin outside the Danbury Public Library on Main Street.
