The mother and aunt of an 11-year-old girl found dead behind a home in New Britain last month entered not guilty pleas during a court appearance Friday.

Karla Garcia and Jackelyn Garcia made brief appearances in court. Jonatan Nanita, Karla Garcia's boyfriend, also appeared in court but did not enter a plea.

All three are charged in connection to the death of 11-year-old Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia. She was found in a storage tote outside an abandoned home in New Britain. However, authorities believe she died one year earlier.

Jackelyn Garcia, Torres-Garcia's aunt, will be in court on Dec. 12.

The attorney for Karla Garcia, who is Torres-Garcia's mother, asked to waive her transport, meaning she will not physically be in court the next time her case is heard. Her attorney will appear in court on Dec. 19.

Nanita, Karla Garcia's boyfriend, will next be in court on Dec. 16.
