The Paley Center for Media hosted Southern Rounds first ever New York City event.
It's an opportunity for aspiring artists or country music lovers to interact with some of Nashville's biggest music makers.
“We’re bringing a little bit of music city to the big apple tonight," said President and CEO of the Paley Center for Media Maureen Reidy.
It's part of a six-part monthly series offering live performances, red-carpet events, and workshops with artists like Hannah Dasher who has written songs for Brad Paisley and Lainey Wilson, singer songwriter Kevin MaC, and D. Vincent Williams a singer who has written hit songs for artists like Rascal Flatts.
When asked what makes a good song?
"The truth. Just be honest," said Williams.
For aspiring artists like Samuel Duque, he says he learned invaluable knowledge from the masterclass.
"They were telling us whole time if you fail keep going, keep going. And at one point something like great will happen," said Duque.
Organizers say the goal is not only to enjoy great music but encourage the next generation from some of the greats of Nashville.
“So many people out there that have the ability, the ability to you know what they make their dream achieve their dreams. And we just want to show them that we've touched, we've been there and give them kind of a little bit of a a route to go," said MaC.
