Musician Darlene Love records virtual Christmas concert to celebrate the holidays

Rock ‘n’ roll icon Darlene Love will still be holding her famed Christmas concert this year despite the pandemic. But this year it will take place virtually.
Love will be spreading the holiday cheer from a social distance. She recently recorded her concert without an audience present. It will start streaming next month.
She says that she did miss having a live audience at the performance.
“We wanted to hear the applause… and the audience sings along with me on a lot of the songs. So, I really did miss that. That was the hardest part of doing it,” Love says.
The “Love for the Holidays” concert will begin streaming on Dec. 5. Love is also participating in another Christmas performance – appearing in Netflix’s “The Christmas Chronicles 2.”
“They didn’t know for sure if I was going to be in it. But they wanted me to record the song. Then, after we started singing the song, they went, ‘Oh no, no. She has to be in the movie,’” Love says.
Love says that it took almost two weeks to film her scene.
I don’t want to give it all away. But it is such a joyful part of that movie,” she says.
“The Christmas Chronicles 2” will start streaming on Wednesday.
Love says that she hopes that by Christmas next year it will be safe to be back on live tour.
Several New Jersey theaters where Love has performed in the past are selling tickets to her streamed concert through their websites. Tickets cost $35. The theaters will receive a portion of the proceeds to help offset the loss of revenue during the pandemic.
