Bryant Elementary School was evacuated on Tuesday after Bridgeport police got several reports of a gas odor.
Officials say Southern Connecticut Gas was intentionally purging its lines as part of service to its network, and there was no emergency.
The odor was not deemed to be life-threatening, according to officials.
Bridgeport officials said residents should not report or call 911 for this issue unless they’re experiencing any health symptoms.
