A unique app is making it easier to date during the coronavirus pandemic.
Filter Off is the first video dating app through which users can go on dates through their phone.
Zach Schleien created the free app 1 1/2 years ago. He says there is no need for swiping like most other dating apps and that Filter Off is actually more comparable to speed dating.
"Traditional dating apps require a lot of time," Schleien says. "When you have a match, it's a lot…like you'll send a message but no one will message you back, or it's a lot of back and forth."
Since the coronavirus outbreak, he says his business has grown twentyfivefold.
"When the pandemic hit, people were and still are very isolated, extremely lonely and detached," says Schleien. "Video is like the most authentic way of getting to know someone."
He says the app makes users feel safer if they're going out to a bar or restaurant at night to meet someone in person for the first time.
