A New Canaan father who launched a cancer awareness fund helped organized an competition event Sunday that benefited the cause.
Chris Falsetta started "The Gracie Fund for Pediatric Cancer," named for his daughter who was diagnosed with the disease in October 2022.
Falsetta, along with friend Rebecca Kimball, organized "The New Canaan Combine." It was an athletic competition comprised of nine events that took place at New Canaan High School between the local fire and police departments.
The event included testing of speed, strength, stamina and agility.
"There are wonderful cancer charities out there, but we found that for some families, things slip through the cracks. We started the Gracie Fund because we're trying to fill in those cracks," Falsetta said.
"I own a gym and I've always been a fitness enthusiast, so if I can connect that with my love to be with people, as we're doing here today, and serve, that's awesome. This is exactly what that is," Kimball said.
