A new emergency communications radio system that will help Norwalk's first responders is up and running.

It replaces the radio system of Norwalk's police, fire, and public works departments.

Norwalk police chief James Walsh says the system will help first responders communicate with one another during day-to-day emergencies and natural disasters.
